Mechanism of Action
Dehydrostreptomycin is an aminoglycoside antibiotic that binds irreversibly to the 30S ribosomal subunit, causing misreading of mRNA and inhibition of protein synthesis. Oxidation increases its stability but reduces its therapeutic use due to heightened ototoxicity risk. It remains important for mechanistic ribosomalbinding research.
