Dibekacin is a semisynthetic aminoglycoside antibiotic derived from kanamycin. It binds to the 30S ribosomal subunit, blocking protein synthesis and causing bactericidal misreading of mRNA. Structural modifications improve activity against aminoglycosideresistant organisms.
