Mechanism of Action
Cefuroxime is a secondgeneration cephalosporin active against respiratory, ENT and softtissue pathogens. It inhibits PBPs, blocking peptidoglycan crosslinking. It shows improved lactamase stability and good penetration into respiratory tissues.

Used in respiratorypathogen research, lactam SAR studies, pharmacokinetic comparisons, grampositive/negative susceptibility modelling and surgicalprophylaxis pathway analysis.
Side Effects and Risks
Risks include allergic reactions, diarrhoea, dysbiosis, rare hepatic disturbances and possible nephrotoxicity. Handle with lactam antibiotic precautions.
