Mechanism of Action
Cefroxadine is a firstgeneration oral cephalosporin that interferes with bacterial cellwall synthesis by binding PBPs and inhibiting peptidoglycan crosslinking. It displays enhanced stability in acidic environments and good oral absorption, making it useful for upperrespiratory and softtissue pathogen research.
Benefits and Advantages
Applied in oral cephalosporin pharmacokinetic analysis, grampositive susceptibility modelling, lactam SAR studies, and staphylococcal/streptococcal resistance research. Serves as a reference compound for earlygeneration cephalosporins.
Side Effects and Risks
Risks include hypersensitivity, nausea, diarrhoea and rare haematologic disturbances. Use standard antimicrobial PPE.
