Mechanism of Action
Etoposide is a topoisomerase II inhibitor that stabilizes the DNA–topoisomerase II cleavage complex, leading to double‑strand DNA breaks and apoptosis in rapidly dividing cells. It is semisynthetic, derived from podophyllotoxin.

Side Effects and Risks
Risks include myelosuppression, alopecia, mucositis, hypotension (IV), and secondary malignancies. Handle with cytotoxic‑topoisomerase‑inhibitor precautions.
