Mechanism of Action

Dosulepin (dothiepin) hydrochloride is a tricyclic antidepressant that inhibits reuptake of norepinephrine and serotonin while blocking muscarinic, histaminergic and α₁‑adrenergic receptors. It modulates monoamine signalling and improves mood, but carries notable cardiotoxicity risk.

Used in monoamine‑transporter research, antidepressant SAR studies, CNS receptor‑interaction assays, and chronic‑stress modelling.

Side Effects and Risks
