Mechanism of Action
Domperidone maleate is a more stable salt form of domperidone, retaining D₂/D₃ receptor antagonism in the enteric nervous system. The maleate form improves solubility and formulation stability. Like domperidone, it promotes coordinated gastric emptying through enhanced cholinergic activity.

Used in gastric‑emptying models, prokinetic drug SAR studies, dopaminergic‑enteric pathway modelling, and pharmaceutical salt‑form research.
Side Effects and Risks
Risks include cardiac arrhythmias, QT prolongation, prolactin elevation, dizziness and GI discomfort. Handle with D₂‑antagonist precautions.
