Dobutamine hydrochloride is a synthetic catecholamine and β₁‑adrenergic receptor agonist with modest β₂ and α₁ effects. It increases cardiac contractility via cAMP‑mediated calcium handling but exerts minimal chronotropic stimulation. It enhances stroke volume and cardiac output, making it a key compound for cardiac physiology research.

Side Effects and Risks
Risks include tachyarrhythmias, hypertension, hypotension (dose‑dependent mixed α₁/β₂ effects), angina, hypokalemia and extravasation injury. Handle with cardiovascular inotrope precautions.
