Product Description
Mechanism of Action
Dipivefrin hydrochloride is a prodrug of epinephrine in which epinephrine is esterified with pivalic acid. The increased lipophilicity enhances corneal penetration; intraocular esterases then release epinephrine, which activates and adrenergic receptors in the eye. This reduces intraocular pressure by decreasing aqueous humour production and increasing outflow.
Benefits and Advantages
Used in ophthalmic pharmacology research, adrenergicreceptor pathway studies, prodrugactivation assays, and glaucomamodel investigations.
Side Effects and Risks
Risks include ocular irritation, burning, conjunctival hyperemia, systemic sympathomimetic effects (tachycardia, hypertension) and rare arrhythmias. Handle with adrenergicprodrug and ocularagent precautions.
Only GMP materials will be supplied, logistics all according to GDP.
