Mechanism of Action
Dipiproverine is an antispasmodic and anticholinergic agent that blocks muscarinic receptors in smooth muscle, particularly in the gastrointestinal and urinary tracts. By attenuating parasympathetic signalling, it decreases intracellular Ca²⁺ mobilisation and reduces spasm and motility.

Used in smoothmuscle contraction studies, GI motility modelling, muscarinicreceptor pharmacology, and visceralpain mechanism research.
Side Effects and Risks
Risks include typical anticholinergic effects: dry mouth, blurred vision, constipation, urinary retention, tachycardia and confusion at high doses. Handle with muscarinicantagonist precautions.
