Mechanism of Action
Delavirdine is a nonnucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NNRTI) that binds an allosteric pocket of HIV1 reverse transcriptase. This noncompetitive inhibition disrupts DNA polymerization, halting viral replication. It shows rapid resistance emergence, making it useful mainly in mechanistic and resistancemutation studies.
