Product Description

Mechanism of Action

Clobutinol is a centrally acting non‑opioid antitussive. It modulates the cough centre in the medulla oblongata by reducing neural excitability, likely through sodium‑channel modulation and central reflex suppression. It has no significant opioid‑receptor activity.

Benefits and Advantages

Used in cough‑reflex pathway research, medullary‑neurotransmission studies, antitussive mechanism comparisons and non‑opioid CNS‑modulator assays.

Side Effects and Risks

Risks include cardiac arrhythmias (QT prolongation), dizziness, CNS depression and hypersensitivity. Handle with caution due to cardiotoxic potential.
