Mechanism of action
Benfurodil is a vasodilator with calcium-channelblocking activity, reducing calcium influx in vascular smooth muscle and thereby decreasing peripheral vascular resistance. It also exhibits mild PDE inhibition and antiplatelet effects.

Useful in vascular pharmacology, microcirculation research, smooth-muscle contractility studies, endothelial function investigations and dual-mode vasodilator modelling.
Side effects and risks
Potential risks include dizziness, flushing, hypotension, palpitations and mild GI upset. Requires vascular-active safety handling.
