Mechanism of action
Azanidazol is a nitroimidazole derivative structurally related to metronidazole. It undergoes reductive activation in anaerobic microorganisms, generating reactive nitroradical intermediates that bind to DNA, causing strand breaks and loss of helical structure.

Side effects and risks
