Product Description

Mechanism of Action

Furosemide is a loop diuretic that inhibits the Na⁺‑K⁺‑2Cl⁻ cotransporter (NKCC2) in the thick ascending limb of Henle’s loop, reducing reabsorption of sodium, chloride and potassium. This markedly increases diuresis and natriuresis, reduces extracellular fluid volume and lowers venous pressures.

Benefits and Advantages

Used in renal‑physiology modelling, electrolyte‑transport research, edema and heart‑failure studies and NKCC2 inhibition assays.

Side Effects and Risks

Risks include hypokalemia, hyponatremia, dehydration, ototoxicity (high doses), hypotension and metabolic alkalosis. Handle with diuretic‑class precautions and electrolyte‑monitoring awareness.
