Mechanism of Action
Furizazole is an imidazolelike azole antifungal with a nitrofuran moiety that inhibits fungal cytochrome P450dependent 14demethylase, blocking ergosterol biosynthesis and compromising cellmembrane integrity. Additional nitrofuranbased redox activity contributes to fungistatic or fungicidal effects.

Side Effects and Risks
Potential hepatic enzyme elevation, GI disturbances, skin reactions and nitrofuranassociated genotoxicity concerns. Handle with azolenitrofuran dualmechanism precautions.
