Product Description

Mechanism of Action

Ethosuximide is an anti‑absence‑seizure medication that selectively inhibits T‑type calcium channels in thalamic neurons. By reducing thalamocortical oscillations, it prevents the spike‑and‑wave discharges characteristic of absence epilepsy.

Benefits and Advantages

Used in T‑type calcium‑channel studies, seizure‑circuit modelling, thalamocortical rhythm research, and antiepileptic‑drug mechanism assays.

Side Effects and Risks

Risks include GI upset, fatigue, headache, blood dyscrasias and rare Stevens–Johnson syndrome. Handle with CNS‑active antiepileptic precautions.
