Mechanism of Action
Ergoloid mesylates are a standardized mixture of dihydrogenated ergot alkaloid mesylates (dihydroergocornine, dihydroergocristine, and dihydroergocryptine). They act as partial agonists/antagonists at dopaminergic, serotonergic and adrenergic receptors, with net vasodilatory effects in certain vascular beds and modulation of neurotransmission in the CNS.

Used in cerebrovascular‑insufficiency modelling, cognitive‑function research, ergot‑receptor pharmacology, and polypharmacologic mixture studies.
Side Effects and Risks
Risks include orthostatic hypotension, GI upset, headache, nasal congestion and rare fibrotic complications. Handle with mixed‑ergot‑alkaloid precautions.
