Product Description
Mechanism of Action
Chloroquine diphosphate is a salt form that improves stability and solubility of chloroquine. Mechanistically it retains the same lysosomotropic and antimalarial actions—accumulation in acidic organelles, inhibition of heme detoxification, disruption of lysosomal function and autophagy pathways.
Benefits and Advantages
Used in autophagy‑inhibition research, lysosomal pH studies, antiviral entry‑inhibition models, and DHODH‑linked parasite metabolism investigations. Often preferred in cell‑culture environments due to reliable solubility.
Side Effects and Risks
Risks mirror chloroquine base: cardiotoxicity (QT prolongation), retinopathy, neuromyopathy, hepatic disturbances and metabolic acidosis in overdose. Handle with lysosome‑active compound precautions.
