Product Description

Mechanism of Action

Chloroquanil is a dihydrofolate reductase (DHFR) inhibitor belonging to the antifolate class. It disrupts folate recycling, preventing synthesis of thymidylate and purines required for DNA replication. It selectively targets protozoal DHFR, making it effective in antimalarial research.

Benefits and Advantages

Used in malaria‑pathway models, protozoal folate‑cycle research, DHFR‑inhibitor SAR investigations, resistance‑mutation mapping and combination‑therapy optimisation with synergistic antifolates.

Side Effects and Risks

Risks include hepatotoxicity, bone‑marrow suppression, GI disturbances and hypersensitivity. Handle with antifolate‑compound precautions.
