Mechanism of Action
Chloropyramine is a firstgeneration Hantihistamine that competitively antagonises histamine at H receptors. It reduces vasodilation, vascular permeability and pruritus. It also exhibits anticholinergic and sedative properties due to central Hreceptor penetration. Often used in acute allergic reactions and urticaria research.

Side Effects and Risks
Risks include sedation, cognitive impairment, anticholinergic effects (dry mouth, urinary retention), hypotension, dizziness and rare cardiacconduction abnormalities. Handle as a CNSactive antihistamine.
