Product Description

Mechanism of action

Benoxaprofen is an arylpropionic-acid NSAID that inhibits cyclooxygenase (COX-1 and COX-2), reducing prostaglandin synthesis and exerting anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic effects. It also exhibits peroxisome-proliferator activation and photosensitising properties.

Benefits and advantages

Used in inflammatory-pathway research, prostaglandin biosynthesis modelling, photoactivation studies, oxidative stress analysis and pharmacovigilance evaluations of hepatotoxicity mechanisms.

Side effects and risks

Risks include severe hepatotoxicity, photosensitivity, GI toxicity and renal impairment. Must be handled with NSAID-active and photoreactive-compound precautions.
