Mechanism of Action
Dexamethasone acetate is a longacting esterified glucocorticoid with enhanced tissue retention. After enzymatic deesterification, active dexamethasone binds cytosolic GR receptors, suppressing immune and inflammatory pathways. It reduces capillary permeability, cytokine production and prostaglandin synthesis.

Side Effects and Risks
Risks include adrenal suppression, ocular hypertension, systemic glucocorticoid effects and delayed wound healing. Handle as a potent esterified corticosteroid.
