Mechanism of Action
Dehydroepiandrosterone acetate (DHEA‑acetate) is an esterified form of the endogenous steroid precursor DHEA. The acetate group enhances stability and modifies absorption kinetics. Upon enzymatic de‑esterification, DHEA enters androgen and estrogen biosynthetic pathways, influencing endocrine signalling, lipid metabolism, and immune modulation. It also interacts with neurosteroid‑sensitive receptors including GABA‑A and NMDA.
