Product Description

Mechanism of Action

Cephradine is a first‑generation cephalosporin structurally and mechanistically similar to cephalexin. It binds PBPs and inhibits bacterial cell‑wall peptidoglycan crosslinking, resulting in bactericidal lysis. Its chemical stability provides strong oral and parenteral bioavailability.

Benefits and Advantages

Used in gram‑positive bacteriology modelling, peptidoglycan‑synthesis studies, β‑lactam SAR comparisons, MIC profiling, and cell‑wall structure–function research.

Side Effects and Risks

Risks include allergic reactions, diarrhoea, hepatic enzyme elevation and rare haematologic disturbances. Standard β‑lactam safety protocols apply.
