Mechanism of Action
Ceftibuten is a thirdgeneration oral cephalosporin with strong gramnegative activity and resistance to many lactamases. It binds PBPs and inhibits cellwall synthesis while demonstrating excellent stability in acidic environments. Highly active against Enterobacteriaceae and select respiratory pathogens.

Side Effects and Risks
Risks include hypersensitivity, GI effects, dysbiosis and rare hepatic disturbances. Handle with antimicrobial PPE.
