Mechanism of Action
Gabadaxol (gaboxadol derivative) is a selective extrasynaptic GABAA receptor agonist that preferentially activates subunitcontaining GABAA receptors, enhancing tonic inhibition rather than phasic synaptic currents. This produces distinct sedative and sleepmodulating effects.

Side Effects and Risks
Risks include sedation, dizziness, ataxia, cognitive impairment and, at high doses, respiratory depression. Handle with CNSdepressant and GABAagonist precautions.
