Product Description

Mechanism of Action

Fumazinil (Ro 15‑1788 analogue) is a benzodiazepine‑site ligand that acts predominantly as an antagonist or partial inverse agonist at the benzodiazepine binding site of GABA‑A receptors. By displacing benzodiazepine agonists from their allosteric site, it reduces their potentiation of GABA‑mediated chloride currents and normalizes inhibitory tone.

Benefits and Advantages

Used in GABA‑A receptor pharmacology, benzodiazepine‑binding studies, receptor‑occupancy assays, and research on anxiolytic/hypnotic reversal.

Side Effects and Risks

May precipitate withdrawal, anxiety, agitation, seizures (in heavily sedated or dependent subjects) and autonomic activation. Handle with CNS‑active receptor‑ligand precautions.
