Product Description

Mechanism of Action

Ergocrystin is a naturally occurring ergot peptide alkaloid that interacts with dopamine D₂, serotonin 5‑HT₁/5‑HT₂ and adrenergic α receptors. It exhibits partial agonism and antagonism depending on receptor subtype and tissue, influencing vasomotor tone and pituitary hormone secretion.

Benefits and Advantages

Used in polypharmacologic receptor‑profiling research, dopaminergic/serotonergic signalling studies, vascular‑reactivity assays, and ergot‑alkaloid structure–activity analyses.

Side Effects and Risks

Risks include peripheral vasoconstriction, hypertension, GI disturbances, headache and chronic ergot toxicity with overexposure. Handle cautiously as a bioactive ergot alkaloid.
