Product Description
Mechanism of Action
Disodium EDTA (ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid) is a chelating agent that forms stable complexes with divalent and trivalent metal ions including Ca²⁺, Mg²⁺, Pb²⁺ and Fe³⁺. It binds metals through its four carboxylate groups and two amine nitrogens, preventing metal‑dependent enzymatic reactions and altering solution stability.
Benefits and Advantages
Used in metal‑ion sequestration studies, buffer stabilization, chelation chemistry research, enzymatic‑reaction control, and formulation science.
Side Effects and Risks
Risks include electrolyte imbalance, nephrotoxicity at high doses, and chelation of essential minerals. Handle with metal‑chelating‑agent precautions.
