Mechanism of Action
Dyclonine is a topical anesthetic that blocks voltagegated sodium channels in sensory neurons, inhibiting depolarization and preventing actionpotential propagation. It provides localized analgesia without structural relation to amide or ester anesthetics.

Used in sodiumchannel pharmacology, peripheralnerve blockade studies, topical anesthetic SAR research, and sensorynerve conduction modelling.
Side Effects and Risks
Risks include mucosal irritation, numbness, hypersensitivity, CNS excitation at high doses and methemoglobinemia (rare). Handle with localanesthetic precautions.
