Product Description

Mechanism of Action

Dithiosteine is a sulfur‑containing amino‑acid derivative with mucolytic and antioxidant properties. Its free thiol groups can cleave disulfide bonds in mucus glycoproteins, reducing viscosity and enhancing mucociliary clearance. It also contributes to redox buffering and can influence glutathione‑related pathways.

Benefits and Advantages

Used in mucus‑rheology research, antioxidant and thiol‑chemistry studies, respiratory‑clearance modelling, and disulfide‑bond cleavage assays.

Side Effects and Risks

Risks include GI discomfort, unpleasant odor, sulfur‑related sensitivity and rare hypersensitivity reactions. Handle with thiol‑compound precautions.
