Desogestrel is a third‑generation progestin that is converted to the active metabolite etonogestrel. It binds progesterone receptors, suppresses luteinizing hormone (LH) surges, inhibits ovulation, thickens cervical mucus, and modifies endometrial receptivity. Its androgenic activity is low, making it useful for hormonal‑regulation research.
