Product Description

Mechanism of Action

Cimetidine hydrochloride is the stable, water‑soluble salt widely used in research and clinical formulations. Mechanism identical: H₂‑receptor blockade on parietal cells reduces gastric acid secretion. Also notable for potent CYP inhibition affecting many drugs.

Benefits and Advantages

Used in solution‑stability studies, H₂‑receptor pharmacology, CYP450 inhibition screening, gastric‑physiology experiments and acid‑suppression modelling.

Side Effects and Risks

Risks include anti‑androgenic effects, hepatic dysfunction, CNS disturbances and extensive drug‑interaction risk. Handle with acid‑secretion‑modulator precautions.
