Product Description
Mechanism of Action
Chlorotrianisene is a non-steroidal estrogen agonist belonging to the triphenylethylene class. It acts as a prodrug that undergoes metabolic O-demethylation to form active estrogenic metabolites capable of binding estrogen receptors (ERα and ERβ). Once bound, it activates estrogen-responsive gene transcription, promoting effects in reproductive tissues, bone, lipid metabolism and neuroendocrine signalling. Its delayed activation and long duration of action result from slow metabolic conversion and high lipophilicity.
Benefits and Advantages
Used in estrogen-receptor research, endocrine-modulation modelling, menopausal-hormone pathway studies, bone-metabolism investigations, lipid-regulation studies and selective estrogen receptor modulator (SERM) SAR comparisons. Also valuable in toxicology assays evaluating estrogen-mimicking environmental chemicals.
Side Effects and Risks
Risks include thromboembolic events, endometrial hyperplasia, breast tenderness, fluid retention, hepatic strain and estrogen-dependent tumour promotion. Handle as a hormonally active compound with full PPE.
