Mechanism of Action
Cetraxate hydrochloride is an anti‑ulcer agent that enhances mucosal protection. It increases gastric mucosal blood flow, stimulates epithelial regeneration, inhibits fibrinolysis, stabilises extracellular matrix components and promotes prostaglandin‑mediated cytoprotection. It does not significantly alter gastric acid secretion.

Used in gastric‑mucosal healing studies, anti‑ulcer drug‑mechanism research, epithelial regeneration assays, fibrinolysis‑modulation research, and extracellular‑matrix stabilisation modelling.
Side Effects and Risks
Risks include nausea, gastrointestinal discomfort, rare hypersensitivity reactions and potential interference with coagulation. Handle with GI‑active compound precautions.
