Mechanism of action
Caroverine is a quinoxaline‑derived calcium‑channel blocker and glutamate‑receptor modulator. It inhibits presynaptic glutamate release and blocks NMDA receptor‑associated calcium influx, reducing excitotoxicity. Additionally, it relaxes smooth muscle through calcium‑channel inhibition.

Used in otoneurology research, tinnitus‑pathway studies, excitotoxicity modelling, smooth‑muscle pharmacology, glutamate‑signalling investigations and calcium‑influx pathway research.
Side effects and risks
