Caramiphen is a centrally acting antitussive and anticholinergic agent. It suppresses medullary coughcentre excitability while blocking muscarinic receptors in the CNS and peripheral tissues. It also exhibits weak antihistaminic activity and reduces upper airway secretions.
Benefits and advantages
Used in coughreflex physiology studies, vagalafferent inhibition modelling, muscarinicreceptor pharmacology, antitussive SAR investigations and CNSrespiratory control research.
Side effects and risks
Risks include anticholinergic effects (dry mouth, blurred vision, urinary retention), dizziness, tachycardia and mild sedation. Handle with CNSactive antimuscarinic precautions.
Only GMP materials will be supplied, logistics all according to GDP.
