Mechanism of action
Benactyzine is a potent anticholinergic with central and peripheral muscarinic‑receptor antagonism. It blocks M₁–M₃ receptors, reducing parasympathetic tone and causing decreased secretions, tachycardia, reduced GI motility and CNS behavioural effects. Originally explored for anxiolytic and antidepressant applications.
