Mechanism of action
Bamifyllin is a xanthine derivative with moderate phosphodiesterase inhibition and adenosinereceptor antagonism. These effects lead to increased intracellular cAMP, bronchodilation and improved respiratory airflow. Bamifyllin exhibits greater airway selectivity and fewer cardiac effects than older xanthines like theophylline.

Side effects and risks
