Mechanism of Action
Eprinomectin is a macrocyclic lactone endectocide of the avermectin family. It binds with high affinity to glutamate‑gated chloride channels and, to a lesser extent, GABA‑gated channels in invertebrate nerve and muscle cells, causing chloride influx, hyperpolarization, paralysis and death of parasites. Its high lipophilicity and low milk‑residue profile make it suited for veterinary use in lactating animals.

Used in endectocide‑mechanism research, parasite neuromuscular signalling studies, macrocyclic‑lactone SAR analysis, and veterinary pharmacokinetic modelling.
Side Effects and Risks
Risks include neurotoxicity in sensitive species (especially with MDR1 gene defects), transient injection‑site reactions and environmental impact on dung fauna. Handle with antiparasitic‑macrocyclic lactone precautions.
