Mechanism of Action
Eldecalcitol is a vitamin D₃ analog with high affinity for vitamin‑D receptors (VDR). It enhances calcium absorption, suppresses PTH, and promotes balanced bone remodelling. Structural modifications increase potency, stability and duration relative to calcitriol.
Benefits and Advantages
Used in VDR‑signalling studies, bone‑metabolism modelling, osteoblast/osteoclast regulation research, and endocrine‑calcium homeostasis assays.
Side Effects and Risks
Risks include hypercalcemia, hypercalciuria, nephrocalcinosis and GI discomfort. Handle with vitamin‑D analog precautions.
