Product Description

Mechanism of Action

Dithizone (diphenylthiocarbazone) is a metal‑chelating dye that forms intensely coloured complexes with heavy metals such as zinc, lead and cadmium. Its conjugated system and thiocarbazone group coordinate metal ions, enabling spectrophotometric detection and isolation. It is widely used in analytical chemistry and pancreatic islet‑cell staining (due to zinc content in insulin granules).

Benefits and Advantages

Used in heavy‑metal detection assays, analytical‑chemistry metal quantification, pancreatic islet identification, transition‑metal coordination studies and spectrophotometric method development.

Side Effects and Risks

Risks include toxicity, potential mutagenicity, skin and eye irritation, and environmental persistence. Handle with chelating‑dye and hazardous‑chemical precautions.
