Mechanism of Action
Dicloxacillin sodium is a semi‑synthetic isoxazolyl penicillin that inhibits bacterial cell‑wall cross‑linking by irreversibly binding PBPs. Its steric configuration confers resistance to staphylococcal β‑lactamases. It is highly active against MSSA and other gram‑positive organisms.

Used in penicillin‑derivative SAR studies, gram‑positive antimicrobial modelling, β‑lactamase‑resistance research, and PBP‑complex‑formation assays.
Side Effects and Risks
Risks include allergic reactions (including anaphylaxis), hepatotoxicity, diarrhea, and rare interstitial nephritis. Handle under β‑lactam antibiotic containment protocols.
