DEHYDROCORTISONE HEMISUCC

Delavirdine mesylate is a non‑nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NNRTI) that binds HIV‑1 reverse transcriptase and blocks viral DNA synthesis. It has been used in combination antiretroviral therapy. Side effects include rash, headache, and gastrointestinal upset, with significant drug–drug interaction potential.

Product Description

Mechanism of Action

Dehydrocortisone hemisuccinate is a water‑soluble ester derivative of dehydrocortisone designed to enhance dissolution and facilitate controlled enzymatic release of the parent corticosteroid. After cleavage of the hemisuccinate ester, the active molecule binds glucocorticoid receptors, suppressing NF‑κB– and AP‑1–driven transcription and modulating metabolic and immune pathways. Its improved solubility allows consistent distribution in aqueous assay systems.

Benefits and Advantages

Used in glucocorticoid‑receptor pathway studies, inflammation‑suppression modelling, soluble‑steroid delivery research, HPA‑axis simulations and steroid‑prodrug activation assays.

Side Effects and Risks

Risks include adrenal suppression, immune impairment, hyperglycemia, fluid retention and possible hepatic stress. Handle with glucocorticoid‑class precautions.
