Mechanism of Action
Deferoxamine mesylate is a high‑affinity siderophore‑mimetic chelator that binds ferric iron (Fe³⁺) to form stable octahedral complexes. It reduces oxidative damage by limiting free iron availability and modulates iron‑transport proteins such as transferrin and ferritin.
