Product Description
Mechanism of Action
Conalbumin (also known as ovotransferrin) is an ironbinding glycoprotein of the transferrin family. It sequesters Fe ions with high affinity, limiting microbial growth through iron deprivation. Its mechanism also includes chelation of other metals (Al, Ga) and modulation of redox balance. The protein undergoes conformational changes upon iron binding, enabling transportlike behaviour in biological systems.
Benefits and Advantages
Used in irontransport research, metalchelation studies, antimicrobialnutrient depletion assays, proteinfolding experiments, oxidativestress modelling and transferrinreceptor binding investigations.
Side Effects and Risks
Risks include potential allergenicity (egg protein), mild irritation upon inhalation and instability under extreme pH. Handle as a biologically active protein with allergen precautions.
Only GMP materials will be supplied, logistics all according to GDP.
