Clomethiazole is a thiaminederived sedative and CNS depressant that potentiates GABA_A receptor activity and reduces excitatory neurotransmission. It enhances chloride influx through GABA_A channels and decreases glutamatergic signalling, providing anticonvulsant and sedative effects.
