Mechanism of Action
Clemastine fumarate is a first‑generation H₁‑antihistamine with strong anticholinergic and sedative properties. It crosses the blood–brain barrier and blocks central and peripheral H₁ receptors, reducing vasodilation, permeability and allergic symptoms. Also provides mild antitussive and antiemetic effects.

Used in H₁‑receptor pharmacology, allergic‑reaction modelling, sedative‑antihistamine research, cholinergic‑interaction studies and behavioural‑pharmacology analysis.
Side Effects and Risks
Risks include sedation, anticholinergic effects, tachycardia, dizziness, urinary retention and impaired cognition. Handle with CNS‑penetrant antihistamine precautions.
