Mechanism of Action
Cinchocaine (dibucaine) is a potent amidetype local anaesthetic that inhibits voltagegated sodium channels (Nav), stabilising the inactivated channel state and blocking neuronal actionpotential propagation. It produces longacting anaesthesia due to high lipid solubility and strong protein binding.

Used in sodiumchannel pharmacology studies, localanaesthetic SAR research, nociception modelling, membranepartitioning assays and comparative potency profiling among longacting anaesthetics.
Side Effects and Risks
Risks include cardiotoxicity, neurotoxicity, methemoglobinemia (rare), CNS depression or excitation, and allergic reactions. Handle under strict localanaesthetic safety precautions.
